Prohibited Content: Third-Party Intellectual Property

Prohibited Content Category:

Content that violates or infringes upon any third-party intellectual property rights, including the sale or promotion of counterfeit products, file sharing, torrenting, or other infringing content, or content that violates or infringes any other third-party rights, including confidentiality obligations.

Additional Guidelines:

Content cannot include:

  • Sale or Promotion of Counterfeit Products: Content that features products or services bearing a trademark or logo identical to, substantially similar to, or designed to resemble a third-party trademark or logo, without authorization.  Counterfeit products or services attempt to mimic branded products and pass themselves off as the genuine owner.  Examples include products described as replicas, imitations, or faux, and products branded with third-party trademarks (or logos designed to resemble third-party trademarks) without authorization.
  • Unauthorized Use of Copyright Materials: Content that uses, incorporates, or attempts to distribute unauthorized media sources, including copyright protected text, images, music, videos, artwork, or software.
  • Unauthorized Trademark Use: Content that uses or incorporates trademarks, logos, or any branding that falsely implies sponsorship, affiliation, or endorsement by third parties, without authorization.
  • Unauthorized Use of Public Figures: Content that features the likeness, names, images, or voices of public figures, or elements or features that resemble public figures, without authorization.  
  • False Claims of IP Ownership: Content that falsely claims or implies ownership of third-party intellectual property without authorization.

Content can include:

  • Authorized Trademark or Branding: Content that features products or services bearing trademarks, logos, or branding with authorization.
  • Authorized Content: Content that uses or incorporates authorized media sources, including copyright protected text, images, music, videos, artwork, or software, with authorization.
