As the world continues to deal with the pandemic, there’s been a recent surge in violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) happening across the U.S.
One report revealed hate crimes that target Asian Americans rose by nearly 150 percent in 16 of the biggest U.S. cities within the last year. Despite this report, Asian American activists are concerned that many anti-Asian attacks go unreported because of stereotypes and language barriers. Because of this, advocacy groups are encouraging more reporting.
In response to this alarming increase in anti-Asian hate crimes, AppLovin Cares contributed financial support to the Asian American community.
AppLovin Cares is an employee-led organization committed to giving back through volunteer hours and grants. We value making a positive impact and connection within our communities and empower our volunteers to give to causes that matter.
We donated to the following three Asian American organizations to support awareness, change, and resolution.
Did you know one in five students report being bullied and that bullying occurs every seven minutes? Act To Change, a support network for Asian American and Pacific Islander youth who face bullying, is working on fixing that.
Act To Change is a national nonprofit that creates anti-bullying campaigns and supports AAPI teens and youth across the nation. They recognize that many teens don’t seek help due to cultural, religious, and language barriers.
#ActToChange is a movement that empowers students, families, and educators with the knowledge and tools to put an end to bullying.

Founded in 1974, the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund protects the civil rights of Asian Americans. The New York-based operation combines litigation, advocacy, and education with Asian American communities in the U.S. to promote human rights. At its core, AALDEF tackles anti-Asian violence, police misconduct, economic justice for workers, educational equality, and housing and environmental justice, to name a few.
They provide legal resources in various languages for community-based organizations, educate Asian Americans about their legal rights, and conduct free legal advice for low-income Asian Americans and new immigrants.

The name speaks for itself—Stop AAPI Hate was created to address and put an end to anti-Asian hate crimes. The site was established following last year’s lockdowns to track hate crimes against Asian Americans in the United States.
The organization was created by the Asian Pacific Planning and Policy Council (A3PCON), Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA), and the Asian American Studies Department of San Francisco State University. Since its launch in March 2020, the site has collected more than 2,800 incidents of racism targeting Asian Americans, with physical assaults accounting for almost nine percent.
The site not only serves as an aggregator to track crimes against Asian Americans but also provides assistance to the community and advocates for policies that strengthen human rights.
