Lion Studios - Global Game Jam

Global Game Jam is the world’s largest game jam event in the world, taking place in various cities across the world. 2019 marked the eleventh year of Global Game Jam, which has hosted over 47,000 game developers who created over 9,000 games in over 113 countries. Artists, musicians, coders, designers, students, and others came together for a weekend of creating games. The theme for this year: What home means to you.

Lion Studios, an independent media division of AppLovin, was there supporting the panel responsible for judging the finalists at the Ukraine event. Additionally, Lion Studios offered a grand prize of $2,000 in user acquisition credit with AppLovin as well as Lion Studios swag. Over 540 game developers created 118 games for this specific event and with so much talent, it was hard picking a winner.

After careful consideration, we picked CyberChop as the Best Mobile Game at Global Game Jam 2019. We chose CyberChop for its unique animation style as well as original gameplay, both of which are incredibly difficult to achieve in just two days of development. CyperChop is a satiric idle game that lets you play as a pseudo-professional gamer living in a basement. You earn more money to play in competitions, upgrade your parents’ basement, and buy PC upgrades. You can actually play CyberChop in your browser here.

Congratulations to the CyberChop team! We can’t wait to see what you build next.
