We’re incredibly proud to announce that Katie Jansen has been named “Marketing Leader of the Year” by the Women in Content Marketing Awards

Presented by Masthead Media in partnership with the Content Marketing Institute, Katie shares the podium with Bethany Hale, CMO of Cedar, a healthcare financial technology platform.

The awards were created to recognize the outstanding work of inspiring and accomplished innovators, spotlighting specific achievements made by women and ways that these marketers have positively impacted others — colleagues, clients, and the industry as a whole — through their leadership.

While the Women in Content Marketing Awards were launched in 2018, this is the inaugural year for the Marketing Leader of the Year award.

“[This award] recognizes an executive-level woman who has made content marketing a top priority at a brand or organization,” representatives for WICMA said. “She’s been fundamental to integrating the practice into the overall marketing mix of the company and uses both traditional and non-traditional metrics to evaluate its success. Without these finalists, content marketing may not have driven learning, insights, and growth in the same way within the organization and really paved the way for everyone creating content marketing within their organization.”

Other finalists for the Women in Content Marketing Awards were:

  • Michelle Wong, Sprinkles
  • Cindy Davis, Bed Bath and Beyond
  • Pamela Forbus, Pernod Ricard
  • Jane Prior, Vita Coco

Katie’s proven ability to create and manage marketing strategies and programs for organizations have been the hallmark of her career from early on. She’s helped define brands, differentiate products, and attract customers, both through her work at PlayFirst and by supporting her clients at Igniting Solutions, the marketing firm she founded. And she has always made it a priority to mentor other professionals.

While the AppLovin website and blog are a clear showcase of her stellar work, they barely scratch the surface of Katie’s accomplishments in content marketing. For starters, she’s led AppLovin’s marketing efforts for most of the company’s 10-year existence. In fact, she was our first marketing hire and one of the first 10 employees. (For reference, we’re well over 1,000 employees strong today.)

Not only does Katie oversee AppLovin’s corporate marketing, she created and drives AppLovin’s brand across content, PR, digital and field marketing, product marketing, and events. By cultivating and refining content that underscores the company’s founding story, values, services, and customer success stories, she has been able to build a strong and durable brand that has sustained years of growth, change, and expansion.

Despite all her accomplishments, Katie was genuinely surprised by today’s win. “I’m honestly humbled,” she said. “The other finalists are amazing, talented women. It was an honor just to be nominated alongside these incredible marketers. And it’s even more exciting to share this honor with Bethany Hale, whose work is so impressive.”

The team at AppLovin is lucky to work with Katie every day, and we’re so happy to see women in content marketing celebrated for their trailblazing work!
